Disinformation: a global problem

The United Nations Organization considers it “disturbing that disinformation and propaganda are used to confuse the population and interfere with their right to receive varied information and to form their own opinion.” He expresses it this way in his “Joint Declaration on Freedom of Expression and False News, Disinformation and Propaganda”, issued in 2017 and already considered a fundamental text to face this problem that afflicts the entire planet.

The European Parliament has also taken steps in this direction and has declared that false news or ‘fake news’ constitute “a serious threat to European democracies”.

This project, Spotted, aims to provide tools to more effectively combat the threat of disinformation. That fight is best fought with information and scientific rigor. Therefore, this section offers useful documentation to inform yourself about the phenomenon of disinformation and its consequences.
